שלום לכולכם,

הדו"אל הרצ"ב הגיע אליי הבקר מחבר מחו"ל, וחשבתי שיהיה זה נכון להביאו בפניכם בגין חשיבותו, להלן:

If you have received an email with this heading:

"Use this patch immediately!" --- DO NOT OPEN IT --

as it contains a virus attached to it named patch.exe.

Please read this email transcript on Microsoft sending patches.

-----------------

Hello CG,

Thank you for contacting us at Microsoft.com regarding the email you received. The e-mail you have received is a known hoax. Microsoft does not send updates to customers in the form of executable e-mail attachments. You may want to turn off any features that automatically launch the programs you download or that automatically open e-mail attachments. Be aware that although an e-mail cannot infect your computer, if you open an infected executable attachment from that e-mail message, it can infect your computer.

Please feel confident that Microsoft reviews and investigates all issues concerning viruses very seriously. Thank you for taking the time to submit this issue today. I am also including links to some helpful information on viruses and Microsoft's Policy on Software Distribution:

Again, thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Sincerely,

John Paul

From: Microsoft Policies on Software Distribution

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/securi ... frame=true

Microsoft never distributes software directly via e-mail.

We distribute software on physical media like CD ROMs and floppy disks.

We distribute upgrades via the Internet. When we do this, the software will be available via our web site, http://www.microsoft.com, or through http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.asp?

We occasionally send e-mail to customers to inform them that upgrades are available. However, the e-mail will only provide links to the download sites -- we will never attach the software itself to the e-mail. The links will always lead to either our web site or our FTP site, never to a third-party site.

We always use Authenticode to digitally sign our products and allow you to ensure that they have not been tampered with.

If you receive an e-mail that claims to contain software from Microsoft, do not run the attachment. The safest course of action is to delete the mail altogether. If you would like to take additional action, report the e-mail to the sender's Internet Service Provider. Most ISPs provide an "abuse" user id for this purpose.

מי מכם אשר מתקשה בהנבת החומר הכתוב, נא להודיע לי ואשתדל לעזור.

שבת שלום,
