By now you will have seen a bit of the city, but you should not miss a trip to Gold Reef City to see some of the world’s best mining technology and a chance to go underground. You might also be interested in the Apartheid Museum, Constitution Hill, Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens, Museum Afrika, The Market Theatre, Westcliffe and the Standard Bank Gallery. Some of you might want to visit the famous Sun City, about 75 miles west of Johannesburg where there is an outstanding Hotel and Casino and Golf Course. About an hours flight north west of Johannesburg in a small plane is a game reserve called Madikwa on the border with Botswana. The airport is called Dwaalboom FADB. Flights leave twice daily from FAJS in a Cessna Caravan, but also from nearby Lanseria airport FALA. It is recommended you stay at the luxury lodge called Etali http://www.etalisafari.co.za/ Next Thursday evening 2 August however, we are taking a charter flight east to the world famous Kruger National Park in the Lowveld where you can see the big five - Elephant, Lion, Rhino, Leopard and Buffalo. There are many excellent lodges. http://www.krugerpark.co.za/ The park is roughly the size of Israel. We will leave our charter party there, but take on a new charter to Maputo on the Indian Ocean, which is the capital of Mozambique. Until 1974, this country was called Portuguese East Africa. After it gained independence, there was a bitter civil war aided by the white regimes nearby. Today it is peaceful and well worth a visit. You can use a Caravan or similar or an executive jet.
