lalex פורסם אוקטובר 27, 2005 דיווח פורסם אוקטובר 27, 2005 Hi all, I am holding a copy of Computer Pilot and reading an article called "Free Flying in Israel" by Dr. David Wilson-Okamura. Dr. Okamura is discussing VFR/CVFR flying in Israel and covers all the addons, paying special tribute to all the scenery designers who have been covering Israel . Yes, Seev, Ido, Nir, David and yours truly are specifically named there, together with their contributions. Dr. Okamura says that: "I would like to say "the screenshots speak for themselves" but they don't: the scale is too large and the cratmaship too fine." and so on... He also thanks VATIL et. for the help ot provided for understanding issues related to flying in Israel + mapping advices, etc. The article also provides valuable insight regarding the topography, geography and some light, flight-related geo-political facts about Israel. After reading that article you really feel the urge to fire-up that MSFS and go "Free Flying Israel". What can I say? I am proud to be part of the VTIL community and also happy that at least in the FS virtual world, Israel received so many complements.

If you read carefully, in the thread that I opened then I asked if somebody knows anything about a "future" article that was announced in the previous issue of Computer Pilot. This time I am reporting about the article itself which was already published - not quite the same subject I would say.

Yes, he mentions the help he got from VATIL and if I remember well, he also mentions your name related to teh translation of certain maps :-) Yes, we need to help anyone who tries to learn about Israel.

Excellent innitiative. The more open and welcoming we are, the better. I must add that Mr. Okamura mentions that despite the fact that Israeli ATC is in Hebrew, it immediately (and happily) switches to English each time it detect a guest from abroad.
