  1. Thanks Seev for the kind words. I am happy that you found it useful. You have a dream machine and I am not surprised that it "runs as well as FS2004". I imagine that you forgot to say that it is also 100 times more beautiful and sophisticated than FS2004 too, especialy with those killer graphic cards! Have lots of fun with the new "monster" :-)
  2. Michael, This guide comes to explain which HW part has influence on which FSX feature - nothing more. The document does not say WHEN to buy anything so with all due respect, your observation is not relevant to the content od the document. Al

  5. Well guys, as I said - the more info you bring in, the better, but the release time won't be before we see what MSFS has in store for us. Thanks.
  6. Have I missed anything? Is teh new LLBG scenery out????
  7. Hi Itay, I'd be very glad to add all the new buildings to my scenery, but I prefer waiting for the new FS coming in winter. I really want to see how compatible it is with the new version and then go on and add to it and generally improve the graphics. So if you have pictures, plans, etc, just send them over. When teh moment is right, you'll see these building in my TLV photorela scenery too. Thanks!
  8. Hi Gilad, There are several ppl who come from the North but I don't know exactly where from. Pity you post this only now. I hope that enough of them will see it and reply.
  9. Come to the meeting and meet everyone :-)
  10. Hi all, Here are two maps showing how to reach the Technion and how to find the way to the Faculty of Aeronautics: http://www.technion.ac.il/english/about ... g_map.html http://www.technion.ac.il/new/AirPhoto.html See you on Friday!
  11. Hi Gilad, Last time, just like now, the payment is to cover the direct costs for organizing the event and the food (we wrote this at the bottom of the agenda). To be exact, what we said at the first event was that if we have some money left from it, we'll use it to reduce the participation costs for the next event - and as you see, the curent cost is 25NIS and not 30NIS as it was last time :-). Just to put everybody's worries to rest, Ilan Jonas is in charge of managing the remainng money (if any) so nobody basically does anything with it - except pay for food etc. which is ordered for the event. See you at the meeting.

  13. How didn't anyone notice? Don't they have security at the hospital? Can it be an "inside" job? Or maybe "metal thieves" have reached the plane too after desecrating monuments? By the looks of it however it seems that the vandals took wings and maybe gauges (why would they break the windshield?). Could it be that they are from the aviation community looking for cheap parts? Or could they be simply disturbed people who hate everything and everybody. I hope that whomever did this and for whataver purpose, rots in hell. They make me puke!
  14. Hi all, There are 23 registered attendees to the Cockpit Builders meeting - and this does not include the Technion academic staff which also plans to attend and make presentations. We are especially happy that many of the registered people are NOT cockpit builders. This is exactly our aim - to bring as many new people to this exciting hobby as possible. We want to show everybody that building a cockpit is not so difficult and that it can fit almost any budget. The main idea is that when you leave the keyboard and mouse behind, flying becomes so much more realistic and enjoyable. One of the main items on the agenda is just this: show you how it's done. The meeting agenda will be uploaded later today on our website. ATTENTION: the registration for the conference will close this Saturday, May 20 since we have to pass the list to the Technion security for access approval.
  15. Hi, 1. Your registration has been received. The fact that you can see it online is a proof of that. 2. If you noticed in the registration form we are providing fields for Car Type and Car number. That's exactly for the purpose of getting entry and parking permits to the Technion for that day. I suggest you re-register. Just go into the registrtion page and add the missiong fields and "submit" it again. We'll receive teh updated registration and ask for a car entry permit for you. 3. The meeting Agenda will be finalized and published this week. We'll post a small announcement and then you'll be able to see it on the ICBA website. See you there.
  16. This might not have been clear enough: persons who have not registered to the meeting through the ICBA website as mentioned above, may not be granted entry to the Technion. If they do enter because they are students, etc., there is no guarantee that they have any sitting places at the meeting and they will definitely not have a meal/drinks reserved for them in advance :-)
  17. What we forgot to mention is that the number of participants is limited this time to @ ppl because of space considerations. Also some post-graduate students and Tehnion academic staff will attend so it is a good idea to register ASAP and insure our own ppl participation :-) Take this as a friendly hint.
  18. So go on to our website and register. Looking forward to meeting you again :-)
  19. I also think you can join others whoi come from the TLV area - just as we did when we traveled to LLBG. It would be a pity if you miss the visit to various Aeronautics Faculty research labs.
  20. Melatonin is for now sold only in "Health/Natural Pharmacies" and it is not considered a drug but a "dietary supplement" - that's why the FDA hasn't done anything with it. Moreover, pilots take melatonin regularly and I guess that if the FAA hasn't issued a warning, it is relatively safe to take. It is hard to believe that an ireversible damage takes place, if somebody takes melatonin 3-4 times a year to regulate the sleep hours, especially if the flight is Eastward. I've been taking melatonin after flying to the Far East or after returning from the US and I didn't grow a third limb. However, maybe the urge to build a cockpit is a side effect - LOL! Here is more info - do what you want with it: ============================= "The Mayo Clinic has warned that much remains unknown about melatonin. Because the FDA doesn't consider it a drug, it isn't regulated, and questions of strength and purity could be reasons for concern. Two types of melatonin are available - animal melatonin which, as the name implies, is produced in the brains of animals, and synthetic melatonin. This is produced in factories and the production is without FDA controls, so strength and purity of the melatonin may well vary. Although you may find information that suggests melatonin is relatively free of side effects, this is not true for all people. Some who have tried the hormone have reported headaches, nervousness, wakefulness, and nausea. The most common side effect seems to be the weird dreams that many people report after taking melatonin. " ============================= "A pill form of melatonin, then, may indeed be good for encouraging sleep, especially in the treatment of jet lag. Jet lag is the disorder brought about by flying across several time zones, and causes disrupted sleep, headaches, disorientation, nausea and numerous other problems. The changes in time actually disrupt the circadian rhythm. Melatonin also may be useful in the treatment of delayed sleep phase syndrome which is a circadian rhythm disorder ...... ...... There have been a few warnings that there could be a danger for some people in taking too large doses of melatonin. This could disrupt the body's natural production of the hormone. =============================
  21. Congrats but... would it be a better idea to merge with the Israeli scenery design group (the ones with the new LLBG scenery) and each one concentrate on their speciality. IMO, in Israel there are too many design groups working separately instead of working together and benefitting from many talents. Remember what a smart American said: "We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately" (Benjamin Franklin). My 2c
  22. I once had this link but lost it. Thanks for bringing it up again.
  23. WOW! That is really cool! And what if it's on page 17?? Show me another VATSIM group which reached ANY page in ANY national newspaper for such an achievement! I am proud and I am happy that our hobby turns out to be also useful. I am keeping these scans - thanks Omri! BTW - the US Navy and USAF have been using hundreds of MSFS stations to train future pilots in situational awareness and basic navigation and flight skills with extremely good results. But this is the marketing work of Microsoft and not of some small group of enthusiasts who had to PROVE that to a major airline. Guys, the small article and the page are not important. The most important thing is that our small group (400 enthusiasts out of an international organization of 100,000 members!) has made more progress than ANY of the other more powerful groups. We must not forget however that when we say "we", we should remember that this was mainly the work of even fewer than 400! I do not know exactly who those ppl were but I think that that very small group consists of Israel Roth, Ran Finkles, Kobi David, Ilan Jonas.... etc. Please, those who know exactly who actually DID it, who actually BUILT the mockups and initially promoted the idea, tell us more! I sincerely believe that they deserve the full honour (with all modesty, at least temporarily, aside) :-)
  24. This reminds me why I volunteered for the highway traffic police... Sorry to hear that we have yet another family who has lost a loved one.
  25. Hey Ran, Bring him to the next cockpit meeting! It is never too early to start LOL.
