Wow, Can Israelis be arrogant and rude? never came across it myself....
-
The question is, how many new features going to be added to the 57. Due to the nature of the 76/ 75, adjusting the model for the panel (basically "merging" it) should not be a big deal. Developing new gauges from scratch - is.

כולם רוצים אני לא רואה שום סיבה להוציא FS11 , הרגע הם שחררו תוספות לFSX וגם FSX בקושי רץ על מחשבים ,חוץ מזה איזה עוד דברים כבר אפשר להוסיף? I actually do see good reasons. FSX is a flunk with a capital F. It came out at the wrong time and the wrong shape. The sooner it would be replaced with a more stable and sensible sim, the better it would be to both users and 3rd party developers
-
its most likely not something for the masses, I was too quick to suggest it as an "alternative" of any kind
-
To me it looks more of a general purpose development tool rather than a sim the way we know it. Something for programmers to use as a platform on which base a specific application would run, but its not really clear (at least not to me)
-
I Don't quite understand the nature of that sim. I doubt a company will launch a product that will compete with another of its products. The price tag also suggests this isn't exactly a game

Pilots don't generate income any more than the screws that hold that plane together (each of which costs..what??) Saving 3/4 Mil per annum if one is to get rid of the crew is certainly considerable though It didn't stop from kicking the engineer or navigator out of the cabin. This is all a question of technology, and in that, not an extremely far reaching one. Someone decided that an automatic engineer is more economical and at least as reliable as its human variant, I can't see why this rational won't apply to the other members in the cabin

I'm selling a British/Canadian bundle at an attractive price, we can discuss a Vatil discount.....
-
Of course! , and it would be silly to claim otherwise. Never mind the fact that the overwhelming majority here, myself included, are far from being "professional" in any way. By the end of the day, as you correctly claim, its a game, and its anyone's prerogative how they prefer to play it . Yet for my own selfish reasons, I think it would be more interesting if more people could/would chip in on the more "professional" threads. This won't happen as long as the most important feature on your PMDG 738 is the tone of the stripe. That's why some try to encourage others to try and dig a bit deeper. Whether or not they'll choose to do it, is up to them but it will dictate the nature of these boards.
-
That's not the point Etai, Let me spell it out - without some basic knowledge these board are/will be dead boring... The problem with LNAV/VNAV is that it allows one to cut corners and have a perfect flight without having a clue in what's one doing or the systems and principles that stand behind it. There's nothing wrong with automation as long as one is able to discuss those parameters you're talking about. Otherwise, don't be surprised when the hottest issue on the boards is the colour of the runway or the colour of the silver stripe in the El al livery...

A couple of things to keep in mind though. I doubt that in the near future we'll see any Israeli pilots flying for Emirates, Itihad or other Middle-Eastern companies other than ElAl, Arkia or Israir. The Salaries for Cargo pilots are substantially lower than those of their airline peers (for obvious reasons) I don't know what are the prospects in the Far east, but working in the far east means living there -might not everyone's cup of tea, its a whole different lifestyle out there. Don't know much about the opportunities in the States either. In Canada however, there are basically just two possibilities when it comes to airlines - AC and Westjet and those two are already staffed. A good friend of mine, - a Canadian guy who used to fly for Jetsgo had to relocate to Turkey after the company went bankrupt.
-
OK, a couple of options... Howard 500 by Milton Shupe (look it up on AVsim) and the Maule M7 by Mikko Maliniemi, which you can find here: http://www.fsnordic.net/Files (go to FS files, the click "most downloaded, its just under our old version of the Tupolev)

what you see at 18 or 20 or even 25 might be drastically different than how you are going to view things 10-15 years later. Your life changes, and so are your priorities. Besides, when your "hobby" turns into your job, it stops being a hobby and it changes the way you view it. Setting on an adventure can be nice, but it may very quickly turn into a nightmare if all the possibilities are not taken into account. You HAVE to love what you are doing, what ever it might be, but at the same token one has to be sure that a cardinal adult decision such as choosing a vocation for life is not taken on a basis of a childish whim

Think again. The average Canadian salary is 36k per annum. For 18k you can just as well flip hamburgers at McDonalds. In fact, its just slightly above the minimum salary (7.5$/h if I'm not mistaken)!! The best a bush pilot can hope for (40k) is a low-end starters academic salary Can't argue about your other point.
-
err...a more prosaic aspect Did anyone check the salaries for freight dogs and bush pilots?

For those who use the Delco INS, a small update have been issue to adress the following: What has been fixed =================== - Problem #0021 June 12, 2007 Bug in SDK InsAutopilotControlState() API Turning unit 'x' (1<=x<=3) ON does not automatically turn other active units OFF. - Problem #0022 June 15, 2007 Fix in SDK external BatParallel state management. - Problem #0023 June 10, 2007 The SDK diagnostic gauge distributed in the package is still the same distributed with version 1.40 and, since the SDK is not compatible, it does no longer work with gauges version 1.5x. Now supplied gauge has been recompiled to be compatible with current SDK version. - Problem #0024 August 30, 2007 Serious bug found in the Data Save and Restore functionality. When INS State Data is saved, the gauge also saves the dynamically allocated list of ADEU files. When such data is reloaded, ADEU gauge can cause FS to crash. Now the list is deallocated before saving/restoring data to disk, and then reallocated. - Problem #0025 September 15, 2007 Wrong management of PI value and simulated drfting. Inertial platform drifting should not occur until the aircraft is moved, even if INS is already in NAV Mode. What's new ========== - CDU Mouse Wheel support Added mouse wheel support to: - CDU Data selector knob - CDU Dim control knob - CDU Waypoint/DME selector - ADEU filename selectors Now they can be operated both with the left mouse button, as before, and with the mouse wheel. Available from the simufly website: http://www.simufly.com/

Indeed, Unlike the popular belief, the video card is not the most important component in that context. FS traditionally is CPU intensive, and FSX is no different. This is actually the source of the problem with FSX which was not originally coded to cater for multiple core CPUs
-
The "acceleration" pack comes with the expansion. If you are willing to wait it should be available later as a free separate download. The "want and upgrade for x? - but product y!" policy, is a PMDG, not yet a MS feature...
-
in two years time, FS11 will be around the corner....
-
This is THE most problematic point about it. Prices are a subjective matter, but not offering the FS9 update (or upgrade) as a separate package and forcing those who may want it to get the entire fsx version is not a smart business decision IMO. Whether or not it will have any future ramifications remains to be seen. If PMDG take simmers for gullible fools then its because ....they are! I know it, you know it and they know it as well..... @ Erez It really depends how the code was written. For some gauges you may no need an update at all, others might need to be written from scratch
-
Oren, surely you understand this is completely irrelevant. The price of any product isn't set by its sophistication but simple rules of demand. For someone who throws in thousands for building a cockpit, 60$ or 60Eu are but peanuts. I see people paying thousands for hardware just so they can run a computer game...is it "worth it"? Guess its more of a question of PERSONAL priorities and the means one has available @ Matan: You have no reason to do that, just as you have no reason for demonstration in front of Ferrari dealerships. They don't owe you anything! Don't like their price - Don't buy it. If that's indeed the opinion of the majority then the prices will plunge in no-time. PMDG is a commercial company not a charity organisation and its their DUTY to try and maximise their profits.

Did anyone ever manage to recreate overcast conditions with AS or something similar? If so, then what settings do you use?
