Ok, Time for a little hype of my own! After fairly long delays the release date for the Tu-154M is set for the end of January. It comes in conjuncture with a very big feature in the German "Flightexpress" magazine scheduled for that date. We won't want them to publish a review for a product that's not out there.. The main difference in the final version from the early Beta version are the engineer systems. Most notably the Electric panel and the AC/Pressurisation panel. The electric system simulates loads and overloads. Incorrect operation will pop circuit breakers! The ampermeters should be monitored to prevent overloads. On the standard panel, the right part of the flight engineer panel, with Pressurisation/Air Conditioning, Engine Start and Vibration sub-panels can be opened as well. All aspects of Cabin pressurisation and pneumatic control are simulated to the finest detail. Improper operation WILL carry consequences! Additional anti-ice and failure panels will be featured in a later upgrade. For the higher resolution widescreeen monitors the engineer systems can be arranged in one panel. The fire-prevention system is intended for preflight procedures, although engine fire is not simulated. An interactive checklist control card , corresponding with the real one - the items are spoken ! The Navigator reads the challenge and the appropriate Crew member answers. The card can be operated in two modes - manual and automatic. In addition the set of callouts had been significantly expended. At the moment we already have a sound set in Russian and Czech. A German sound studio had volunteered to produce an English set (east European accent) and a set in German (east German accent) Those will become available with the release or shortly afterwards. The main panel For the first time a wide-screen panel will be included, here is a not yet finished draft. It is suitable for resolutions of 1920*1200. 1680*1050 or 1440*900 A 3 monitor panel option is also available Engineer Panel with normal night lighting ... and flood lights Detailed view of the Pressurization / Air Conditioning Panel The release will even include a Czech panel version - with authentic labels, signal lights and crew voices. Suitable for those who are afraid of the Cyrillic labels on the Russian panel ... Czech signal lights Virtual cockpit, the gauges relevant for flight all smoothly animated. No flat bitmaps, look at the 3D ADI and HSI !! plenty of animations - 2-stage windshield wipers, Pilot figures, movable seats, engineers table, logbook, curtains, navigator suitcase ... ... sit here for convenient checks of temperature , fuel, or the automatic pressure regulator during flight. Full engineer panel operation in the VC is optional and requires fast PC ! The visual model - improved almost everywhere Very smooth animation of Passenger and cargo doors, APU door, flaps, wingflex. the Wingflex is dynamically curved - dependent on speed, Flaps vs Speed and G-Load. Details ... and more details unfortunately it can't be shown, but an improved soundset for internal, system specific (electric, pneumatic, switch click etc) and external sounds will come with the package And there is the usual : custom autopilot , PTs unique Joystick setup device, authentic navigation systems (Russian NVU Navigation, custom KLN90B GPS), virtual Navigator, GROZA weather radar, PA-56 control surface relay system, TCAS, authentic signal/warning light system, MSRP-64 Flight data recorder (black box), temperature dependent thrust, surface condition dependent braking etc. 250 page English manual, with much enhanced Quick start Chapter incl. lots of pictotials for illustration. All systems are described, two example flights, voice transcripts and more ... No switches from Dollars to Euros or pounds either. This is, and will remain a donation/freeware product!

Enlighten us - what would that leap be? can you be more specific?? which "elements" exactly are we talking about? Both Ido and Aviv, who contrary to what you had implied, certainly do know what they are talking about, failed to see any. In all honesty - so did I Sorry Opher, I did read - and I see NOTHING there that goes beyond what was already mentioned. Don't be fooled by commercial hype, there's nothing groundbreaking about this product! Go through the feature list: 1) Replacement 1m/pix textures - FSX also comes with 1m/pix textures, and pretty nice ones too. The products textures may be nicer but its just cosmetics, not some "new technology" as you might have (mis)understood. 2( Landclass - the default FSX coverage is indeed abysmal outside NA, but again, there are plenty of other products out there both commercial and free, that fill that gap. Oh yes, it also includes a bonus airport... Don't get me wrong, the intent is not to bash this product. I just wanted to present what you yourself have termed a more "balanced and realistic view". Think about it, if it really had made such a big difference, why would the developer resort to FS9 Vs FSX comparisons?? What you see in that before/after series of screenshots is almost all virtue of FSX itself, not the miracle works of a 3PD. I actually hold both developers in high regard, too bad they got carried away a little although this had become somewhat endemic with most 3rd party developers, I'm afraid. Peter Wilding and koorby are certainly not the worst example of this.
-
UT + GE , as I understand it. Plus some areas that have photoreal coverage. The question is, which areas will be covered with the initial release
-
Of apples and oranges! Opher...you should read the fine print....... want an example of a misleading marketing technique? They are comparing FS9 with FSX...... FSX with a setting of 1m/pixel displays images that are 5 times sharper than the 4.8m/pixel of FS9, big surprise!!! Still impressed??
-
Just to clarify things a little about the way FS (both 9 and x) display textures. This is a mip-map of a texture in FS9. the sim selects which level to use as a function of the distance: If we'll edit to colour-code each texture like so: we can see how FS renders the scenery: and a bit further: Note how the sim uses the mip levels according to the distance The radius of coverage for each such level, by the way, is determined by the values of the "terrain default radius" and "terrain extended radius" in your FS9.cfg file
-
From what I understand its a complete scenery that will contain improved textures, as you say, as well as landclass and some photoscenery for specific areas. If I understand correctly they will expend the coverage with time to eventually cover the entire globe. Basically filling in the big gaps that microsoft had left in the product. Nice and ambicious product probably, though certainly not a revolution of any sort

Try SBFN to FHAW. The former has a 6000ft runway the latter is 10k long. You leg is still a thousand miles plus change but I can't see how you can do it any shorter without some aircraft carrier to accommodate your favourite 737
-
you're right of course. Won't catch me doing something that's longer than 800 miles either. Don't have the time and its just too boring. Just liked the sound of that combination..Air planes and Bermuda Besides, like you say, its not that you have too many options
-
Via Bermuda of course - how else ?
-
ehh..oops  http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=114541 It comes with an already compiled traffic file and a whole bunch of AFCADs. Great if you have a default installation but needs editing if you're using custom scenery
-
If anyone's interested, there's a package for military IAF AI planes available from Avsim.com If you have custom scenery for LLBG . LLSD or any other airfield that are used in the package you might need to adjust the AFCAD files yourself (e.g reconstruct the military apron in Ben-Gurion)
-
Not entirely sure if its applicable on the NG and can't check it right now but wouldn't shift + / toggle between arm and disarm?
-
Did you manage to get AI/ FS ATC direct takeoffs to 26??
-
No, you can't! AFCAD for FS has its limitation. Due to the structure of the airport itself there's no way to make runway 26 active.
-
Why bubble? I see demand and willingness to pay - nothing but a true representation of the current state of the market.
-
Probably not the exact same model. According to the notes that come with this package, this particular model was not used after WWII. Some more info is available in this post : http://www.calclassic.com/cgi-bin/yabb/ ... 1198003304

There was a thread here at the time about taildraggers. If anyone's interested there's a great freeware model available on avsim.com of the Savoia Marchetti S.73. It's a collection of several variation of this aircraft, each variation has its own dynamics, so its not just a bunch of external models and skins - each has its unique characteristics. It also has its navigation system simulated so it offers some challenge, some reading and a bit of learning to operate and navigate from A to B. Can offer a refreshing change for those who might be getting a bit bored with copying flightplans into an FMC
-
Hmm..yes It's Dollars Jim, but not as we know it. They come in various colours, have avian creatures and French words and refrain from stating in whom we trust and in whom we don't.....
-
Which is no surprise, as the acceleration pack includes SP2... The SP2 installation notes specifically point that: ].Roy Chaffin had made some comments on the acceleration pack at the time: .
-
Stay away from those, even Canadian funny-money is worth more these days.
-
well said! and with that : You'll be opening a can of worms. If anyone wishes to donate, I'm sure there are ways one can go about it It's too bad that freeware development, be it models, scenery or services like this is rapidly dying. Those who had been around a while, may still remember it didn't use to be this way. It surely takes away a lot of the 'hobby' aspect of things
-
By the way, many of those RSBN stations are obsolete these days. RSBNs are principally VORs that are aligned to zero, their application for navigation is a little different though.

Ilan, In the embassy you're your own boss. Even the embassies territory is recognised as "yours" In a public place in a foreign country - you're not. But again, this isn't about security! the whole thing can be handled much better with both sides being happy about it, when its done humbly, quietly and politely. It's not a matter of who does it better, just a question of how do you go about doing it. Isn't it possible to do one's thing and not leave bitter sediments with the other party? Show me one Israeli, though, who'd give up an opportunity to boss everyone around or show them all who's better and smarter. Cocky types are not popular, and that's perfectly understandable.
-
I read this and I see something completely different. The guy is complaining about people being rude in spite of the fact that they go way and beyond in trying to accommodate them.... His post is not about security - its about behaviour! I, for one, tend to believe him. Its not that he's the first one to bring this up Now put yourself in his shoes. Do you even imagine Israel allowing, say, Turkish security to run their business in Ben-Gurion? And getting some attitude from them after you have granted all their wishes? Cheeky you would say, wouldn't you? For some reason we don't tend to be too critical about the so-called "Hutzpa Israelit" and even think of it fondly for whatever reason. Don't be surprised if others may find it disgusting.
-
Its not a question of security arrangements, its a matter of people (a bunch of foreigners in that case) who go around feeling and probably behaving like they own the place. And yes, you can do your thing and be polite about it at the same time - there's no contradiction there. I happen to live in an area where lots of tourists hang around, trust me, I can tell the Israelis from miles. Sure there are nice and courteous amongst them but they are a small minority, unfortunately. Stop attributing it all to anti-Israeli feelings or anti-Semitism. Arrogance and show-off don't go well in most places, regardless where one comes from or what's one's hair colour. What does 9\11 have to do with it??! They are not doing it to protect themselves, they co-operate in order to protect ElAl passengers, and in return probably get some "attitude" from Israel's finest...
