  1. TSA, The Tupolev HAS an english manual - if that's what you mean (although the callouts as I said are in russian). As for S-Combo, well it's a program with many configurations for various planes(or you can make your own if you can't find yours among them), the programm connects to FS through FSUIPC and does exactly what you asked....It announces flap position, v speeds, it even has checklists for various stages of the flight. Well, to cut a long story short...the program is no longer freeware and for the rest see Illans post above You can use the FlightDeck Sound Effects Panel which is basically a subpanel with many buttons, pressing a button would sound an announcement. Don't remember the link but the file name is FDSPXPLN.ZIP Personally I don't fancy this Idea, I mean, having to press buttons for your favourit stewardess to utter a sound.....and in front of the computer.... //Michael
  2. And if you're interested in something bigger(i.e Turboprop) then it'll be very hard to beat this one: http://dash8.fscentre.com/
  3. Ilan, Us old folks still remember a little proggy called "S-Combo" which had altitude callouts, flaps, V1-r-2, checklists etc. You don't happen to know what became of it, do you? //Michael
  4. You are absolutely right, there is a significan drop in framed on 30 final The problem to be exact, is not the "westbuond view" but LLSD and LLBG itself (with all it's AI) the combination of these two is bound to bring a non high-end computer to its knees. //Michael
  5. Shadi, look at avsims forum under "MSFS tips and tricks" it's almost wors for word.....unless of course you think they too have no idea of what they are talking about :? //Michael
  6. Add this line in the FS9.CFG SIM section SHOW_BRAKE_MESSAGE=0 This will turn off the red "breake" message Not sure about the rest of them though //Michael
  7. There: http://tu154.avsim.ru/files.html It has lots of announcements, the thing is, that they are all in russian.... Still you can easily guess what they mean + the english tutorial has a key for these announcements. A word of warning though before you go and download this package: This is one of the more complex panels you'll come across, and you'll need some (or plenty) of time to learn how to master all of its functions especially the navigation computer. So if you're looking for a plane to load up, kick the throttles and take off, this one is definetly not for you. //Michael
  8. Hi Eitan, Yes the Idea is indeed nice. The thing is, that developing scenery to cover an entire country, be it even a small one like holland or indeed israel, is not something that's done overnight. The NL2000 project (as the name suggests) started long ago. This is why the developers had the time to gradually cover the entire country, but this is also the reason for its major weakness - it's just too old. That's why the frames are so bad (forget about GMAX) and the ground textures are still FS2K style. You don't have to go too far to see similar examples, just look at the LLSD or LLBG sceneries. They are beautiful and detailed but will tax your computer. The recent TLV VFR by A lawrence on the other hand is hardly noticable as far as FR hit is concerned. Which brings me back to my initial point, namely, that having BOTH a comprehansive scenery to cover a wide area AND maintaining it at a high level of performance and detail is, to date, a too formidable task. I'm yet to see asuccessful attempt (there's a similar package for belgium but it has exactly the same drawbacks) . For the time being here's a frequently updated page that keeps track of ALL available freeware scenery. I hope you'll find it as useful as I do: http://walhalla.mine.nu/fs2004.php Best Regards //Michael
  9. Well, yes, .....BUT, you'll have to take this into account: 1. The download size is MASSIVE 2. The framerate hit is (still) significant 3. The ground textures are quite horrible IMHO, these are still relics of the original project developed for FS2000 The individual airports are quite good but you'll have to "sitf" them out and if you intend to fly to EHAM only then the default is not bad..... //Michael
  10. It would really depend on the type of plane and on other variables as well (such as fuel expenditure considerations). You would usualy be given max speed, and the rest is up you you (or the airline which employs you) //Michael
  11. Did you see this? http://www.avsim.ru/files.phtml?action=download&id=583 It's a design for 2002 can't tell you how it flies in FS9 //Michael
  12. I come back to bring up a topic that was discussed before on a couple of occasions. I'm trying to resolve the issue of activating both 12-30 and 8-26 Here is an example that shows that it is possible: http://flightsim.periskop.cz/fsitem.php ... an=1&menu= The afcad is for prague Ruzyna. Look at the Afcad and see the implementation of the "star" technique (there are two of them , I'm refering to LKPRmultiwy.bgl) If I have the time I'll make an attempt to do something similar on LLBG. Of course all are welcomed to try this too. In any case, this AFCAD shows that activating multiple, non-parallel runways in FS9 is indeed possible!! //Michael
  13. There, I think you'll find most, if not all of them here: http://walhalla.mine.nu/fs2004.php //Michael
  14. The bug is caused by a small distortion in the mesh layout Whoever played with one of them mesh generating programs is all too familiar with these "mountains and glenns" it doesn't take much to produce that bug, just a few misplaced bites. //Michael
  15. Go to ISD italy site, they don't come any better!!!!! Also there are high quality sceneries of UAAA, UNTT, UNNT and URSS if you're interested in sceneries from that area Lkpr has a nice scenery by Vladimir SYNEK it was designed for fs 2002 but works just fine in fs9 Norway has an all-inclusive package for all the major airports in this country: http://www.flightsim.no/cgi-bin/file/do ... cgi?ID=854 and a little patch : http://www.flightsim.no/cgi-bin/file/update1.cgi?ID=854 The Irish IFSD team has also an excellent package here: http://www.ifsd.ie You can find a very good scenery for ebbr by Robert Buysen over at Avsim ehh I geess I could go on forever. There are plenty of really good sceneries on any major site and the screenshots usualy give a good indication about the quality. so I suggest you run a little search and decide what YOU think is good. If you don't feel like searching I think there's more than enough here to keep you busy for a while...... //Michael
  16. Gilg, If you search this forum you'll find a couple of long threads addressing that very issue. To save you the time i'll give you the bottom line: 1) The default scenery...... 2) Alex Lawrence says his AFCAD (which you can download from flightsim.com) will even have aircraft landing on 26 provided the right wind conditions. Unfortunately I was not able to reproduce that. So unless someone has any news I'm not aware of, you're stuck with 30 //Michael
  17. Try Project ISD italian sceneries. They will match and surpass many payware stuff and are obviously free //Mike
  18. ............... This is very of strange. UT actually USES PAI MODELS for its aircraft. so how can they be uglier or less frame-friendly when they are one and the same I wonder??? Could it be that you get better frme rates because you have actually a lot less traffic....? GILG, If you don't have the product how can you say it's disappointing??? and no, it doesn't have just the 767. It has them all!! Xargon got it right, you can definetly get by without it, provided you don't mind downloading litteraly thousends of repaints and their flightplans. If you are up to this kind of labour then you really don't need UT. Otherwise I see nothing wrong with it. //Michael
  19. not sure Try setting mipmap to 4 //Mike
  20. Hi ev_m, The correct answer to all your questions is : IT DEPENDS Vref will depend on weight, and flaps Cruise altitude is basically up to you but will also depend on the houls total distance. cruise speed will depend on the so-called cost index a figure of 0.78M is just reasonable. You can flu faster but you might end up spending more fuel. A reasonable approximation to estimate TOD is the 1:3 rule of thumb. i.e 3 miles in distance for each 1000ft so begin your decent from say FL300 to 0 AGL ~90 miles from destination. Again, this is only a ROUGH approximation, it will also depend on descent speed, winds, rate of des etc. 290IAS and 250 below 10000ft are common numbers, but again it's up to you and will also depend on other variable (such as your weight just to name one) try looking at various tutorials and you'll quickly get the hang of it //Mike
  21. Nice, very nice indeed. Though it would require quite a few pints of Guiness before I bid 140$ farewell for ANY kind of addon. //Mike
  22. Tal, 1) You're right, the LLBG 0.51 is a bit of a hog when it comes to frames but to date its by far the best rendition available to ben-gurion intl. unless someone is building a newer version in gmax .............. 2) What specs do you have exactly? i.e vid. card, memory, CPU? 3) there's no way to escape it, one needs to compromise! try reducing autogen, the 3D clouds are nice but are also nautorious FR killers! try downloading the resized clouds as many people report a significant improvement using the latter. personaly I use the 2D only disabling aircraft and scenery shadows will also boost your performance. Try renaming the autogen xml it is known to cause memory leaks you can try various drivers for your vid card. the latest are not always the greatest. try and see which works best for YOU There are many other tips you can find in various forae, most of them won't make any difference, some might give a marginal improvement while other can make a significant difference. You wouldn't know until you try. Hope that helps //Mike

  24. Tsh, The morality of this is one issue I'm NOT going to get into Neither am I going to start lecturing about the legal aspects of your last post. Just a friendly word of advice - If you insist on persuing illegal activities DO NOT do it in a public forum. Moderator:It will be to the best interest of this FORUM if the last thread or post is deleted //Mike
