  1. Hi Opher, I was under the impression that since the WxR comes from a 3rd party, you'll need to purchase it too. Perhaps I was too quick to draw my conclusions. As for the idea of integrating a WxR into the ND, well, , you can find it on O.Frolovs Dash 8 (both freeware and obviously payware versions) and Alain Capts MD11, though you'll need a registered FSUIPC for the latter. The 777 radar is of course of a much better quality. Another WxR you can get for free is our own "Groza 154" . It can't be integrated into any ND..... Although it has almost all the functions simulated. The next update will include ground reflections (reflections! not clutter)
  2. I believe you will need to fork out some more cash if you want to have that possibility. I have to admit the idea is nice! Not new (and even available as freeware if you have a registered FSUIPC) but for sure nice! //Michael
  3. Opher, The PSS forums are indeed "clean", but they are kept so artificially - They are the only company I know, that runs a locked frum, i.e each post undergoes censorship before it is made public. I have my own opinion on the right way to keep a forum clean, but that's an entirely different issue altogether I will agree that they charge a reasonable price for reasonable products(whats the point of having dozens of repaints, its just a skin IMO) but I fail to see why would one investin a "reasonable" 777 when a very good 767 is already available. Judging by their track record to date, I wouldn't expect to see miracles and wonders when it comes to the FDE
  4. Enjoy your Student life as much as you can! I for one, would be only too happy if I could relive those days //Michael

    Laser ILS

Hi All! I have read somewhere about experiments being conducted on a laser device intended to guide aircraft down a glideslope ...etc. etc.- in short , an ILS. it was also mentioned that similar systems are already implemented at US airforce bases. I'll be glad if someone has more info or can expand on that... //Michael
  6. BTW, I don't think its such a bad idea! Almost every forum I know has a section for off-topics. Call it "pub" or something like that, and have all the unrelated posts there. You hit two birds with one stone, and keep all parties happy //Michael
  7. Well, the herc is not for me - not for the time being anyway as I have loads of other stuff in progress, but reading the initial reports from some very credible experts - the CS herk might just be a pleasent surprise after all!
  8. Perhaps for YOU (or me, personaly I don't care much about screenshots) but why should we tell those guys what's the "right" way to do things? to each their own, right? Let me put it this way.... The net is full of sceneries, some of which( usualy the better ones) are such frame hogs that the comp grinds to a halt whenever one is on final.... what's the point of detailed sceneries, you may ask, if alll they do is screw up your flight? //Michael
  9. Sagi First - congrats on "B I hope you are enjoying your studies, Biotec is a most fascinating subject I failed to see the point you are trying to make though, (and I'm not being facetious). IMO, its all about the sense of "community". If people like posting screenshots and getting responses - then so be it! why should that bother anyone? //Michael
  10. http://earth.google.com/ Opher, it's not an addon, just a little application that allows you to view sattelite photos (where available) Nothing to do with FS but apparently it can be incorporated as a sort of fancy "moving map" //Michael Ah.... here ya go... http://ge.jmo.biz/all.kmz (vatsim + ivao) http://ge.jmo.biz/vatsim.kmz vatsim only.. //Michael
  11. Hi Alex, Sounds very interesting indeed!, thanx for the detailed post. Just one more thing... Any bugs or shortcuts in system modelling? I guess some issues needed to be rectified if a version 3 was required? Thanks again //Michael
  12. BAW339 If you can, perhaps a word or two about it.... I'm not quite familiar with that addon. it looks interesting but I'll appreciate a list of pros and cons from a user. maybe you can expend a little on its FDEand autopilot (it seems to be using the default AP) thanx!! //Michael
  13. BAW339 Your point is absolutely valid, though those of us that had been around long enough knoww PPS, thir track record and the niche they are trying to cover. I just wonder why they have chosen such low quality pics for the preview. I'm sure the problem is with the photos and not the model itself Personaly, the PSS 777 will have to have something realy extraordinary for me to purchase (which I doubt). not because its so bad, but simply 'cause having the 737, 767& 744 - I don't see the additive value of a 777 //Michael

  15. A joke in terms of? eye candy? system simulation? price? don't know anything about this particular model, but a lot will depend on the asking price.
  16. Can't answer on Orens behalf, but IMO politics is just another symptom. The true ailment is in the way many of us regard ourselves and the others, both on the personal and collective level. //Michael
  17. A small request... Does anyone have any video materials or any information regarding the KLN90B sid/star handling. In particular the following: 1)adding more than one sid/star to the plan 2)indications on the "plan" pages 3)running through the sid/star waypoints with the cursor 4)deleting a sid/star from the plan any input will be welcomed The SId/Star implementation is basicaly ready, we only need to validate those points //Michael
  18. So, if PURLA is a part of the DP, then why repeat it twice? //Michael
  19. Itzik, I believe the original remark was in reference to a certain frame, or state of mind. The complacency at the time stemed from the way we regarded ourselves . - and not just in terms of military might //Michael
  20. Hi all Just a heads-up on a wonderful freeware offering available for download on avsim. Look for the Yakovlev Yak-18T Not entirely bug-free, but even as it is, it seems to be the best freeware available for an airplane in that category I'm not familiar with the developers (except one) but they seem to have managed to take freeware development a step further. Things that impressed me are - the flight dynamics (having fiddled with those for countless hours I can appreciate the outstanding job done here) - animated propeller visible from 2D panel -custom failure system ; incorrect use will trigger a failure //Michael
  21. Happy new year to all you guys back home!! best wishes //Michael
  22. As a matter of fact, the application of reverse thrust in the air is a part of the CORRECT methodology for landing (on the Tu 154 ofcourse) at high approach speeds/slippery surfaces and short runways. Accorging to a TU154M pilot (currently on the 738) the approach speed is roughly 280km/h and reverse thrust is used in the airin order to bleed off that speed rapidly. //Michael
  23. why??? Here is the simulated version //Michael
  24. ah?? Care to elaborate? Thanx! //Michael
  25. which is exactly the trend shift I was talking about previously. @ Ran No, your question is not hypothetical and approaches have been made. but how would you split the cake among a team that spans the globe (5 countries) and most members have never met in person? seriously. Becoming a commercial developer isn't just about getting paid for your development. Like you said - people expect (by right!) an adequate level of service. so it's also about providing support, fixing bugs adding features and planning future development. This requires dedication that not everyone is ready to give. We, for example, all have day jobs that none of us will give up for the sake of FS addon development. actually the more the project evolves (and the more developers/contributers join it) the less likely it seems for it to make a turn in this direction. @ Ilan The SDK is perhaps revolutionary (never explored it realy) but you'll agree that its aimed at a very small fraction of users. For most its quite irrelevant. The other things you have mentioned are indeed nice little ornaments, but nothing groundbreaking as such. (btw, if you are interested in audiable checklists I can send you a gauge, though you'll have to come up with the wav files) @ Opher There are a couple of reasons why most people don't or didn't have the 767PIC for one, most people here are too young to know. or be able to purchase. second - it wasn't available as a download, hence was less accessible for many. and finaly, when it was released, the concept of payware was a more exotic notion than what it is today, and the focus at the time was mainly on freeware - which brings me back again to my point about the tchange of trend. //Michael
