Oren, Care to list , here or in PM what systems would you like to see, or feel the manual is lacking? There's quite a bit of info available, so I can try and put it in the manual.
-
Those who managed to master the B shouldn't have significant problems with the transition, although I fully understand why you may be reluctant to go for a series of "trial and error" experiments. IMHO, its still worth giving the half-baked product a try, if only for the new dynamics , but of course, its your call. The new docs WILL be better than the current ones! The thing is, that without a fully functional FE panel (which has many of the Ms unique features) there was no point in publishing a partial manual now, and another one with the official release

Happy new year!!

The add says :"expected soon", in other words, its not available yet

Oren, This is a "test version" not the oficial release. The installer jibberish is a flop. All the previous ones were flawless and worked perfectly - in english. As for documentation, let me assure you that the release version will have a comprehensive manual! no worse than the 160 page long manual available for the B. I'll be frank! The only reason the test package was released now - and in this state(though perfectly flyable and is just missing the docs and FE panel) was to relieve some of the pressure off the team - and in particular the programmer of the FE panel. The hope was to squelch some of the "when is it going to be released" posts as well as to truely try and elute possible bugs. Perhaps the team rushed too much with this one, but it is in a tight spot as promises of a pending release date back to last year.... As for the last statement, I couldn't disagree more. If anything, then we're trying to reach out to as many people as possible OUTSIDE the russian speaking community. There are support forums in 4 languages other than russian, and we try to provide that support to the best of our ability. If we do fail sometimes , its not through lack of trying. Furthermore, the english docmentation (manual) is WAY BETTER than what's available in russian, which again, aims to cater to the non-russian users who can't just download the planes original books. The way I see it, is that many users don't care too much about PT, rather than the other way around... it stems mainly from 3 reasons 1) its just too complex for some. All they want is a nice external model and a plane on which they could kick the throttles and wave the stick about, without needing to hassle with anything else 2) some are turned off by the cyrillics - both you and I know its not a real show stopper, correct me if I'm wrong 3) MOST will be turned off by....the name.... Tupolev is just not sexy enough. Call the exact same panel "Boeing" and I believe there would be more enthusiasm about it Having said all that(wow, its getting to be quite a bit) if you think we can improve on something - then by all means, let me know. After all, contrary to what you say, the goal is to introduce the project to as many simmers as possible and accomodate them as best as we can.

PT Releases a public beta for the Tu-154M . This package does not contain the M's FE panel, but uses the one from the 154-B instead. There is no documentation (other than a short list of data and notes), for this you'll need to use the docs from the 154-B, or PM me with an email so that I can send you that manual if you don't wish to download the entire B package. You may also get some jibberish when running the installer - just point it to FS9s root and it will install it automatically, or unzip it into a temporary directory and move the files manualy. The question , IMHO, should be - what the new addon can bring to the table that we don't already have with the 67 from LDS. not sure that a new FDE and visual model are worth paying whatever they charge.

http://www.avsim.com/pages/1206/PSS757/757.htm that's a link to an AVSIM review on the PSS 757. Personally I don't like or trust too much the Avsim reviews, but it might give you some idea. Just try to filter out some of the hype and be more critical as you go through it.

its a mountain resort, there are none

Real life/Real time north american plans you can get on this site: http://flightaware.com/

In real life for the Toronto Ottawa line you're likely to see A319/20 (ACA) or B737-700 (Westjet) . There's also an operator running Dash-8 from downtown Toronto (cytz) to Ottawa international AFAIK, the only commercial operator flying between Ottawa and CYQB is ACA-Jazz (Dash-8 ) The second leg can be an easy vfr - just follow the river to the east.

A new freeware Tupolev Tu124 had been just released for those interested in Classical aviation. The package contains also a basic english manual for panel functionality and operation. English documentation for the more complex navigation systems (NAS-1 nd RSBN) can be found elswheree (try the AN-24) The model has no VC, but the complex panels and the solid FDE do make up for it, IMO. Support in english is hosted by "Project Tupolev". you can find the link to the forum in my sig

Sure we can learn from the english, or anyone else for that matter. My point is that you can't approach it in terms of black and white. If you look at the overall picture you'll see that they are not as good , while we still have plenty to take pride in. There's room for improvement, for sure! Though this would be stating the obvious.

Opher, you are painting a somewhat idealized picture of the UK or its people. I should have no problems giving examples of deeply rooted class segregation, street violence, alcohol related abuse and hooliganism. In fact, I'm much less convinced that Britain should/could serve as a role model society. Oh, and I remember going through a very similar procedure in Hethrow. Thing is, that in my case the officer was presented with.....British passports... P.S. As for the Empire and its culture...why don't you ask the Irish for their take on it...after all they had lived (and more frequently died) )in its shadow for so long

Those devices, known als as ALDs (Artificial Larynx Devices) are often used in individuals who had undergone a surgical procedure involving the removal of the voice box (laryngectomy) Cancer of the larynx (the voice box) is one of the most common types of upper airway malignencies with over 11000 new cases (in north america) each year

You'll be surprized..... The textures in FS won't represent reality in this case. We are yet to see snow or sub-zero temperatures this year. Expect a whooping 16-18 degrees.....

There is an excellent free scenery from "Flight Ontario" for the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), though if the wether stays as it is, there's not much point in installing it, you won't get to see anything anyway

look up avsim forums for "tips and tricks"

Great frames!! Now try a final into LGA or JFK

I would think so too, hence I was surprised when "standard prices" were mentioned. "suiss pro" which is a similar project is sold for more than 100$ a copy. the developers claim that the steep price stems from the high costs of attaining aerial photo info. But then again, it might be a different story here.

How much? 350MB sounds pretty normal to me...even somewhat low. Memory leaks are usualy aircraft or area specific. if its indeed area specific, try to check for multiple afcad files. There's a utility to do this, I'll check out how its called once I get home. In case its a more global problem , I would try 1) to close all unneeded applications using "enditall" 2) there's a small executable called "filemon" . it can help you locate missing files or monitor your programms activities. try runnung it with FS and see what errors it might report
-
NO WAY!! That's a cardinal mistake that will result in a memory leak
-
any duplicate Afcads or emty texture folders?
-
Didn't quite understand. Are you talking about topographic mesh, or photorealistic texture coverage? In case of the latter, the offer does sound appealing. Wether or not one would buy it will greatly depend on the price...

Alex, this is a great idea - finaly an objective method to test FSX. May I also suggest adding one or two custom configuration options. For example "large airport" style of flight might get a higher scenery complexity setting with autogen at minimum (or even off) a "bush flying" config may have it the other way around Perhaps (along with the 100/50/0 settings) it can give people a better idea of what performance they can expect from their rig.
